Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF)
The Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF) has been set up by the government since 1994 to provide funding support to local non-profit making organizations for projects and activities in relation to environmental and conservation matters. The 3 categories of projects are Environmental Education and Community Action Projects, Community Waste Recovery Projects and Environmental Research, Technology Demonstration and Other Projects. Under the Environment and Conservation Fund Ordinance, the ECF Committee has been set up since 1994 to advise the Secretary for the Environment, the trustee responsible for the administration of the Fund, on the use of funds.
The Enviornmental Campaign Committee (ECC) has been authorized by the ECF Committee to vet and approve Environmental Edcational and Community Action Projects including Minor Works Projects that cost $500,000 or less. The ECC has then set up an Environmental Education and Community Action Projects Vetting Sub-committee to perform this function. Projects seeking more than $500,000 will be referred with its recommendation to the ECF Committee for consideration.
