Green Travel for a Zero Carbon Future - New Energy Bus Experience Day and Carnival

Organised by the Environmental Campaign Committee, the Environment and Ecology Bureau and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund, “Green Travel for a Zero Carbon Future – New Energy Bus Experience Day and Carnival” was held at CIC-Zero Carbon Park in Kowloon Bay on 2 March 2024, with an objective to promoting the safety and sustainability of new energy transport, as well as enhancing the understanding of the public about the role of new energy transport in improving roadside air quality and reducing carbon emissions, and their contribution to achieve carbon neutrality for Hong Kong by 2050.

Featuring exhibition booths hosted by collaborating partners and green workshops, the Experience Day and Carnival attracted more than 1,200 participants. Singer Jason Chan also gave a musical performance at the carnival and shared his green lifestyle, enhancing the atmosphere of the event.

In order to allow the public to experience the new energy buses, electric buses and Hydrogen bus were arranged to take passengers from designated points to the venue, giving them an opportunity to enjoy the superior journey provided by new energy buses.

The event was kick-off with an opening ceremony, which was officiated by the Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Miss Diane Wong, the Chairman of the ECC, Professor Simon Wong; the Chairman of the ECF Committee, Dr Eric Cheng; the Under Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mr Liu Chun San and other guests before the experience day and carnival.

"Green Travel for a Zero Carbon Future" - New Energy Bus Experience Day and Carnival is one of the events under Hong Kong Green Week. Organised by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau in collaboration with different organisers, Hong Kong Green Week promotes the development of green technology and green finance in Hong Kong through a series of activities from February 26 to March 2.
