To facilitate the Government's initiative of expanding the food waste collection network, the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC), through funding from the Environment and Conservation Fund, supported the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) to roll out the "Pilot Scheme on Food Waste Smart Recycling Bins in Private Housing Estates". The Scheme provides eligible large private housing estates with food waste smart bins (FWSBs) free of charge, including installation and two-year maintenance service.
The Scheme accepts applications from eligible private housing estates in Hong Kong that fulfill the following requirements until all FWSBs under the Scheme have been allocated.
The ECC will centrally procure FWSBs and cover their purchase costs (including two-year maintenance service). The FWSBs will be appropriately allocated to approved housing estates based on the number of households, which ownership will be transferred to the estates. Generally, one FWSB will be allocated per 500 households, with a maximum of 20 FWSBs per housing estate.
Resident's organisations or property management companies representing them can complete the application form below and submit it to the ECC Secretariat, on behalf of eligible private housing estates. Please refer to the Guidance Notes for the details of application.
