Recruitment – Project Officer

The Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) is a non-statutory advisory committee which has been set up by the Government since 1990. It aims at promoting public awareness of environmental issues and encouraging the public to contribute actively towards a better environment.

Application is now invited by the ECC Secretariat for the following post -

Project Officer (PO)

(Salary: $25,605 per month; 15% gratuity of the total salary upon satisfactory completion of the contract.)

Job Requirements: Candidates appointed must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Candidates should have

  1. a bachelor's degree from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent;
  2. attained Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Note: ‘Grade C’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth);
  3. at least 1 year post-qualification relevant experience, preferably in the field of publicity, communications, public relations, funding management, administrative or environmental education;
  4. proficiency in common business applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and applications in video editing (e.g. Windows Live Movie Maker) and promotional material design (e.g. Adobe PhotoShop); and
  5. strong organisational and analytical power, with excellent command of English and Chinese.

Duties of PO:

  1. To vet funding applications, monitor the funded projects, perform site inspections, and process the related project progress/completion reports/payments;
  2. To plan, organise and coordinate events and activities including seminars, ceremonies and visits;
  3. To handle duties related to publicity and promotion;
  4. To monitor the integrity and accuracy of databases and websites, and prepare statistical reports and returns; and
  5. To provide logistics support to the operations of the ECC and its sub-committees

Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will normally be employed on contract terms for a period of one year. Renewal of contract will be subject to operational needs and satisfactory performance of candidates.

Completed application form with an application letter should be sent to ECC Secretariat at 5/F, Southorn Centre, 130 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong by mail on or before the closing date of application. Candidates are NOT required to submit supporting documents for their qualifications and job experience at this stage. Please mark “ECC Job Application” and the applying job title on the sealed envelope. To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to the Secretariat and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. All information provided will only be used for recruitment related purpose. Shortlisted candidates will normally be invited to attend a written test within one month and/or interview within two months.
