In view of the severity of the current COVID-19 epidemic situation and recent announcement to revive working from home, the application deadline of 2020 HKAEE has been extended to 31 December 2020 to allow more preparation time for companies and organisations to submit their applications and continue to strive for excellence in practicing environmental management during the pandemic.

As part of the first phase of Reduce & Recycle 2.0 Campaign rolled out by the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) and the Environmental Protection Department, the new Big Waster Chatbot function has been introduced on ECC’s Facebook page to help people understand more about the network and search for the nearest recycling locations. The public can click "Send Message" on the ECC Facebook page or use this link to start the chatbot, which can also help them check information about the Community Smart Recycling Vehicle’s tour schedule.

The augmented reality game has also been relaunched on Instagram (on mobile devices only) to keep familiarising citizens with the eight types of recyclables accepted by the community recycling network.
